Description
The EPBD recast (EU/2024/1275) highlights the relevance of wastewater heat recovery systems (WWHRS) as energy-saving technologies with very short payback periods.
Wastewater heat recovery systems (WWHRS) harness the heat from drain water to preheat incoming cold mains water. As such, it partially meets energy needs by recovering energy that would otherwise be wasted. Instantaneous wastewater heat recovery is considered low-hanging fruit for building energy efficiency due to its simplicity and high potential for energy savings (up to 60% of shower energy needs can be recovered).
In this course you will learn everything there is to know about the instantaneous wastewater heat recovery as defined in the European standards.
Disclaimer: While the operational performance of WWHRS is unquestioned, it is the prerrogative of Member States to integrate WWHRS into their official energy performance of building assessment procedures.
